Students who gained admission through the entrance examination must also meet the minimum entry requirements of the University of at least five credits, including credits in English and Mathematics and a Science subject, in not more than two sittings, in the West African School Certificate or its equivalent.
Direct entry candidates must also hold either the Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) with at least merit in any of the education courses; a Diploma in any of the education courses with at least merit; or General. The admission requirements are are also further categorized below:
(1.) UTME
4-Year Degree Programme
The candidate must possess five O/Level credits, which must include:
English Language and/or Mathematics in WASC/SSCE/NECO/GCE O/Level/NABTEB and any prerequisite subjects of the Department of choice at WASC/SSCE/NECO/GCE/NABTEB, and which should be obtained at not more than two sittings.
(2.) Direct Entry (DE)
3-Year Degree Programme
Any of the following
GCE A/Level or its equivalent with passes in any Education related studies.
HND in any Education related studies with lower credit from any recognised Polytechnic.
Diploma in any Education related studies of UNN or National Diploma of any other recognized institution.
A minimum of pass in NCE in any Education related studies plus credit in English Language and /or Mathematics in WASC/GCE O/Level SSCE/NECO/NABTEB.
A Bachelor of Education in the various fields of study (Education, Arts, LIS, Science, etc) of UNN or any other university recognized by UNN in any discipline in Education.
